Release date: 2019-10-19
Developer & publisher: Outbreak Games
As I have mentioned in my previous review for "Kissing Therapy", the game was a short but very well done piece of erotic mind control storytelling. However, its biggest problem was the short runtime that ended up being mostly a teaser, thus it's no surprise that the developers decided to continue exploring the setting in a prequel.
The portrait of a spoiled brat. |
"Proper Counseling" is set some time before the original game and yet again features Rose, the amoral counselor with a penchant for turning straight girls into lewd lesbians. She is worse in the prequel, though, as she still hasn't encountered mind control. Rose, as we meet her, is a spoiled, rich and vindictive cunt, who sees everyone as beneath her. She doesn't care about the students she is supposed to counsel, and only wants to unearth the supposed rumours about the drug distribution within the college. Not out of the goodness of her heart, though. Rose believes that discovering the source of the drugs will give her prestige, as if she needs any more of it, considering her family's wealth.
However, we simply cannot let Rose run amok in the college, mentally scarring students and scorning colleagues, so her boss vice-principal Amy (who herself is the source of the drugs), decides to introduce Rose to a mind control program to properly correct her attitude.
Watching TV is good for your (metal) health. |
"Proper Counseling" is not a long game either - it runs just under an hour, so we don't spend too much time on slowly melting Rose's brains, but the scenes we see are great. Rose gets more and more horny, lewd and amenable to the colleagues. There is barely any full sex scenes in the game, but the sexual energy just permeates it wholesale. There is always something sexy going on: someone is masturbating, someone has a buttplug in the ass, and someone is being mind controlled, which is the sexiest thing of all. Mind control actually helps Rose develop a healthy respect for the students she is supposed to counsel, and for the first time she actually cares about their problems. So what if she spends most of her time in her room masturbating and dreaming of lesbian sex - that is still a noticeable improvement to the demeanor of our college counselor. :-)
What can bring colleagues together better than public masturbation. |
As her mind control deepens, Rose gets to witness various lewd acts, and even to participate in some of them, until we finally reach the ending and the revelation, that is both incredibly hot and incredibly disturbing.

Sadly, the game once again feels like it fails to tell the whole tale, and appears like an extended trailer to a larger universe. I have really hoped the developer will create another game in the franchise, but considering it's been more than 2 years since "Proper Counselling" has been released, the hope is dim.
There is no consent like forced consent. |
Truth be told, there are some supplements included in the game that are worth mentioning. After finishing the game, you can listen to a smattering of audio logs (totaling about 20 minutes), which reveal some of the things that were happening behind the scenes, where Rose had no ability to look. Eventually, the logs end by introducing Katherine - the same girl who was the star of the original game, thus tying the prequel and the sequel together.
The original "Kissing Theory" had a unique artistic vision, and the prequel updates it without losing the character. The game ditches the dichromatic art of the original for slightly more realistic colouring, but still tints all the scenes in pinkish/reddish tones. At the same time, it retains the almost Super Deformed aesthetic of the characters I have loved in the original.
Eve's costume is the best professional costume. |
The game has been completely voiced (including the inner thoughts of the characters), and the cast seems to be pretty strong. Amateur developers usually would hire only a few voice actresses to voice the whole cast, with each taking care of a few different characters, but Outbreak Games didn't skimp and hired an actress for each major character, which works for the better. Each character has a unique voice, and the actresses do a good job.
Finishing my review I want to voice my one gripe, which is the font. It's a bit overstyled, and can be hard to read at times. I got better at it as the game went on, but the beginning of the game was a bit of a struggle.
All in all, "Proper Counseling" is yet another great entry in the erotic mind control genre, making us wish we had more. The developer has another completed game in the same genre, though it deals with a guy mind controlling his family, which is not exactly my favourite topic, though I may still play it some day.
