"Please Bang My Wife", as it is known in the West, is yet another NTR-themed nukige from Atelier Sakura, though this one does something different with its premise. It doesn't really save it from the mediocrity, but I appreciate the effort.

There are plenty of nukiges that explore netorare or netorase aspects of the relationship, but few of them try to include both of them in the some work. PBMW starts as a NTR game. We follow our married protagonist Sashihara Yasushi, an erotic video game developer, whose company occasionally enters the periods of the dreaded "crunch", and so he has to sped time working overnight to finish the product. His young and loving wife Mariko dutifully waits for him at home in those trying times, though recently Yasushi has noticed that she is less bothered about his overnight stays at the company, and seems to give him a cold shoulder when it comes to his sexual advances.
A perfect wife.
Yasushi comes to strongly suspect Mariko of cheating on him, and eventually confronts her with the evidence he has collected, at which point she confesses to an affair with her boss. Our protagonist's reaction to her confession is less than common, though. While he is angry and jealous, he is also incredibly aroused when confronted with his wife's infidelity, and asks Mariko to continue her extramarital affair with the condition he gets to watch.

At this point the game switches to a pure netorase experience, as Mariko starts teasing Yasushi about her affair, and creates a situation where he can secretly witness her with her more energetic and virile lover. That is not enough for Yasushi, though, and he wants to experience everything first-hand - by being in the same room as the couple making love.
Arising suspicions.
The scenario of PBMW is nothing particularly groundbreaking, as similar plots are prevalent in a lot of similar VNs, though majority of them start as netorase games from the get go. The highlight of this experience is the teasing factor, as Mariko is really good about taunting and dirty talking Yasushi, bringing him to the brink of his arousal. This all culminates in the final scene, which surprised me with its well-done execution and erotic factor, as Mariko fucks her boss Kazuki while brutally taunting Yasushi. It is also made clear this is all done in good faith, as Mariko loves Yasushi and indulges in using his cuckolding fetish to get him off, while also experiencing great sex herself.

That said, this is where the game ends, as it is an incredibly short and completely linear experience that can be finished in 2 hours. This left me barely satisfied, as the game ends just as it starts to become really good. Sometimes good things come in small packages, but PBMW really cuts it short to the point of being an unsatisfying cock-tease.
This is a show for you, darling!
Just like many other Atelier Sakura games of this ilk, this VN only has the game from the male perspective, but upon finishing it you can go into the Gallery and watch the bonus scenes that show various Mariko's scenes that happened while Yasushi was only suspecting her of cheating. Normally, I wouldn't mind such a structure that much, but I felt like the game was cock-teasing me even more, because I wasn't that interested in Mariko's past, and wanted to see more of her and Yasushi's exploration of his cuckolding fetish.

Graphically-wise the game looks really weird, and not in a good way. First of all, the whole game looks like someone took a sepia and had it take a dump all over the graphical assets. The VN is basically mono-tonal, with only blacks, browns, yellows and beige used to to colour-in the sprites and the CGs. I'm not sure what look was the artist going for, but I must tell you I wasn't a fan. Moreover, the CGs employ extreme closeups that leave out large portions of the scenes, which was probably intended to make you feel closer to the action, but it took me out of the experience. At least I know for a fact that the sequel does away with the sepia turds, so I think the devs themselves realized this was a bad decision.
A happy end.
Anyway, I would consider "Please Band My Wife" to be a purely mediocre experience. While it goes in the right direction plot-wise, and the last scene was really hot, the short play-time led me to an unsatisfying conclusion, and the subpar graphics also hindered the experience. I would only recommend it to the most ardent NTR fans out there.
