As I have stated multiple times, I really enjoy erotic fiction that features the netorare fetish or shemale/futanari characters. Now, combining those two in a single visual novel makes two great tastes taste great together. It also proves that there are some folks on 4chan (aka the asshole of the internet) with great taste, because one of them translated the game for the enjoyment of us plebs that do not speak Japanese.

The same person previously translated "In the House of Despicable Family", which I have enjoyed quite a lot, so it made me wonder how this game will compare to the previous effort. And the answer is... well, it's a mixed bag.
Aww, how cute! They have nicknames for each other.
"Netorare Otoko no Ko" introduces us to Kusanagi Ryousuke, our protagonist, who is in a loving romantic relationship with his (girl)friend Asai Nozomi. Now, if the title or the cover image haven't clued you in, Nozomi is not exactly a regular girl - she is a trap. I'll be honest - the concept of a trap confuses me a lot. For me a person is either transgender or a cross-dresser; no third way about that. However, the Japanese have long ago invented a strange term "otokonoko", which is usually translated as "trap" and hovers somewhere in a limbo between a transgender person and a cross-dresser. Seriously, I have never understood that and the way the game goes about it makes it even more confusing.

Nozomi doesn't seem to consider (her)self female, but dresses and acts like one, so how should such a person be addressed as? She? He? They? Even the translator has no frigging idea as he uses all of those pronouns... usually in the same sentence. But I ascribe it to his lack of proofreading, as it is not the only mistake in the game. Just like his previous effort, there are often grammar mistakes in the VN (though seemingly less so) and he even gets the name of the main antagonist wrong! His name is Akimura Jinta, but it was for some reason translated as Akimura Nita. I don't know how much I trust the translation of a person, who couldn't even be bothered to check the game site for the actual romanization... Though some people might say the translation accuracy does not matter to a nukige, I say: "Screw you, guys"!
I didn't know we were playing a game.
But back to the issue at hand. Apparently I found an easy final solution to the he/she/it question (and it doesn't even require a functional konzlager). My Grandpa used to say: "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it may occasionally be a nazi spy in a duck outfit, but much more likely it's just a duck". So, considering Nozomi looks and talks like a girl, she is henceforth known as a "girl"... I feel like I have reached the fucking Nirvana with that revelation. No, not the Christopher Lambert movie, though I feel it is quite underrated.

Anyway, I feel like I went off on a tangent. Let's get back on track and discuss the plot... what little of it there actually is. Enter the aforementioned antagonist Akimura Jinta. He is a sleazy PE teacher who has a penchant for fucking schoolgirls and inadvertently getting them pregnant. As we meet him, he bemoans how quickly his playthings get a bun in their ovens, and he has to look for a new toy. But, as he passes by a classroom with Ryousuke and Nozomi, a lightbulb suddenly goes off in his head - why fuck girls, if he can fuck traps. That way there will be no danger of pregnancy. Apparently no one has told him, that he might as well have indulged in anal sex with his female toys - the result would've been the same.
All girls love compliments.
As it were, the school in question forbids student couples, so Akimura blackmails Nozomi with the fact that she is Ryousuke's girlfriend and steals her from him. Ahh, meet stupid NTR premise no. 3, only slightly more clever than stupid NTR premises no. 1 & 2: "He kissed/raped me and I have to do what he says in order to prevent my boyfriend finding out" and "My boyfriend incurred a huge debt and I have to repay it with my body", respectively. God, how I love stupid netorare premises; the more unrealistic the better. And I'm not even joking - it adds a certain cheesy charm to the whole affair. And by God, the game would benefit from some charm!

I found the visual novel to be a bit dull and too formulaic. You have to try to mess up a VN that features traps and netorare, so I suppose I have to applaud the developers, as they surely have tried a lot. It's like everything is done by some numbered list in the dev's basement. At first we get a romantic scene between the protagonist and his girl to establish that they are a couple. After she is stolen away, the scenes proceed from a handjob to blowjob, to intercourse in a very predictable sequence. And ultimately we get one of two endings: one better and one worse. The one thing the game tries to do differently, is the fact that Ryousuke actually seems to have a netorare fetish himself, which doesn't do him any favours. I imagined many exciting scenes how the said fetish could have been exploited for lewds, but sadly nothing of the sort happens and it barely plays any role to the overall plot.
Sick burn.
Finally, Ryousuke must make a choice if he forgives Nozomi or if he gets consumed with the thoughts of revenge. The former results in a better ending with some very hot H-scenes and an overall better situation, while the latter won't even net you a closing sex scene. Though it does explain some things about the plot through Nozomi's inner monologue, which basically boils down to one thing: "The bitch be crazy"! As my Grandpa used to say: "Don't stick your dick in crazy, or if you must do, use the rubber". Luckily, all the characters in the game are biological males, so there will be no problems even if no rubbers are used... or will there be?

The beginning of the game had a throwaway line about traps being able to get pregnant, which I read with a mild disinterest and easily forgot. Nonetheless, the game was not interested in letting it go so easily, and so engaged me in the most unappealing dirty talk during the sex scenes. Every single sex scene with our antagonist went basically the same - he threatens to cum into Nozomi's ass, to which she shouts something along the lines of "please don't, I'll get pregnant, it's my unsafe day", and after the deed is done it follows with "now I'm definitely pregnant". Now, don't get me wrong, pregnancy is another of my major fetishes and forced breeding is hot as fuck, but such dirty talk was completely wasted on characters with no female reproductive organs and I could only stare at the screen with dull contempt, as the VN used basically the exact same wording during every single fucking sex scene!
*Sigh*
And during all this I could only think: "They are not really going to go that way? Are they?". Apparently they did... The bad ending has basically the epilogue tell you "And then Nozomi got pregnant"... and then the game ends, as if saying "Deal with it motherfucker". The better ending tries to be clever and introduces some technobabble, which doesn't work at all, because even if we suspend our disbelief, it would have required a surgical intervention, which would have been noticed by the other characters! Am I really looking for logic in a three and a half hour nukige? God save me!

On the other hand, some parts of this VN are quite well done. The art is appealing and the H-scenes actually look sexy; and there are some pretty hot instances, like a public toilet use scene and the public outing with hidden vibrators, and let's not forget the hidden blowjob on a shopkeeper. Natheless, most of the scenes are ruined for me by the most annoying dirty talk ever. The game at least tries to breathe some life into the positive characters and make them more fleshed out than some other nukiges, but it doesn't really succeed and their characteristics seem sort of tacked at the end to explain the nonsensical plot. That doesn't extend to the one negative character obviously. Akimura is not even a two-dimensional cardboard cutout. He is one-dimensional, like a singularity of every bad nukige villain with a single trait - the desire to fuck bitches.
Thanks, I guess.
To sum up, I don't consider "Notorare Otoko no Ko" to be a bad game, but I see it as mediocre and sorta dull. I'm already starting to forget the details and I only have finished it two weeks ago. A pity. I expected more, but c'est la vie. Still, there are much worse games out there and from more respected companies, so I have no reason to complain. Live long and prosper!
